Relict of the long since deceased Jesse Swan (sic), departed this life at the residence of her son, Mr. James Swan (sic), two miles east of this city [Upper Sandusky, OH], on Tuesday [23 FEB 1886] afternoon about four o'clock, at the age of 85 years, 8 months and 10 days. The venerable lady had been ailing for over a year with dropsical affliction, and although everything that could be was done for her, she finally succumbed to the inevitable. Her husband preceded her to the spirit world 10 years ago, and since that time deceased had made her home with her son. Four children survive her, three sons and one daughter, namely: William, residing in Iowa; George, residing at Lucas, Ohio; James, and Mrs. Elizabeth Chew, of this city. Mother Swan (sic) was dearly beloved by her children, and enjoyed every comfort that this world could bestow. Her remains were taken to Lucas, Ohio, this evening [25 FEB 1886], for interment.

Death of Mrs. Swann.

Mrs. Sarah Swann, the venerable mother of James Swann, died at his residence, three miles east of town [Upper Sandusky, OH], on Tuesday, February 23d, 1886, at the advanced age of 85 years, 8 months and 13 days. After much and long suffering and full of years, she was gathered to her fathers. The funeral took place on Wednesday [24 FEB 1886] morning, services being held at the family residence and conducted by Rev. J.W. Byers, pastor of the English Lutheran church of this city. The remains were taken to Richland county [OH] and intered (sic) in the family lot, in the Cemetery (sic) near Lucas [OH], by the side of her husband, who preceeded (sic) her to eternity some ten years ago.
