Rites For Aged Pitt Township [Wyandot Co, OH] Man Set For Tuesday [18 APR 1950]

Augustus Stephan Smith, 90-year-old Pitt township farmer, died at his home on route one, Upper Sandusky [OH], Saturday at 12 o'clock noon. Death was attributed to complications. He had been failing since January of this year.

Born December 28, 1859, in Pitt township, Wyandot conty (sic), the deceased was a son of David and Rebecca (Blackburn) Smith. He married Emma Alice McClain March 24, 1885, at the bride's home in Pitt township.

Surviving with the widow are the following children: Mrs. A.H. Winter, of near Nevada [OH]; Mrs. Charles Clinger, of Nevada; Ray Smith, at home; Alva Smith and David Smith, both of Upper Sandusky, and Delbert Smith, of north of Upper Sandusky.

Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

One brother and one sister are deceased.

Mr. Smith was a member of Emanuel Evangelical and Reformed church in Pitt township and passed away at the farm where he was born.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. from the Bringman & Co. funeral home with Rev. E.E. Engle, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment will be made in Oak Hill cemetery.

Friends may call at the late home until 1 p.m. Tuesday.
