ELMORE J. McCLAIN DIES IN FINDLAY [OH]

Funeral Services To Be Held At 2 P.M. Friday [25 OCT 1946]

Elmore J. McClain, 82, one of Wyandot county's [OH] most respected citizens, passed into the sleep of death at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Bonnel, of Findlay, Tuesday [22 OCT 1946] afternoon at 4:30.

Mr. McClain underwent an operation May 5 at McKitrick hospital in Kenton [OH] after which complications developed resulting in his death.

He was the son of Abraham and Catherine (Berlin) McClain and was born November 2, 1863, on the old McClain homestead in Pitt township [Wyandot Co, OH]. September 23, 1886 he was united in marriage with Miss Leefe Belle Kotterman, daughter of Solomon and Matilda (Fought) Kotterman, also of Pitt township. To this happy union ten children were born. One son,. Glen Edwin, died in infancy.

Surviving to mourn the loss of a loving father are: Jay and Bert McClain, of Toledo [OH]; Russell McClain and Mrs. Lawrence Bonnel, of Findlay; Dana McClain, of Chillicothe [OH]; Walter McClain, of Galion [OH]; Mrs. Victor Fox and Mrs. Robert Robey, Upper Sandusky [OH], and Mrs. Plen Liles, Forest [OH].

He also leaves twenty-two grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, one brother, Charles A. McClain, of Upper Sandusky, and one sister, Mrs. A.S. Smith, of Pitt township.

Preceding him in death were three sisters, Mrs. Leefe Wood, Mrs. Sarah Smith, Mrs. Myrta Troup; two half-sisters, Mrs. Polly Quail and Mrs. Jane Mason. One brother, A.L. McClain, who passed away just four weeks ago, and three half-brothers, Arch McClain, Brough McClain and Zach McClain.

In young manhood Mr. McClain united with the Emanuel Reformed church of Pitt township. After moving to Kirby he transferred his membership to Shiloh Christian Union church in Jackson township [Wyandot Co, OH].

Mr. McClain endeared himself to a host of relatives and friends and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held from the Shield's funeral home in Forest Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. S.W. Canter, pastor of the York Street Christian Union church will officiate.

The body will remain at the funeral home.

Burial will be made in Oak Hill cemetery.
