COUNTY NATIVE DIES SATURDAY [08 JUN 1963]

Funeral Rites 2 p.m. Tuesday [11 JUN 1963] For Mrs. Virgel (sic) Althouse

Mrs. Mary Edna Althouse, 66, of route one, Upper Sandusky [OH], died suddenly of a heart condition at 1:50 p.m. Saturday in a Tiffin [OH] hospital. She was ill for several years.

Born June 18, 1896 in Crane Township [Wyandot Co, OH], she was the daughter of Philip Edwin and Caroline (Mosman) Grundtisch. Her mother resides in Upper Sandusky.

She was married June 29, 1916 to James E. Troup, who died March 16, 1937. She was married August 1, 1942 to Virgel (sic) H. Althouse, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Robert J. Troup, Upper Sandusky; a step-daughter, Mildred D., wife of Clarence A. Racheter, McCutchenville [OH]; three grandchildren; two brothers, Harvey Grundtisch, route one McCutchenville, and Glenn R. Grundtisch, Upper Sandusky; and three sisters, Miss Marjory Grundtisch, Upper Sandusky, Mildred, wife of Roger Whittington, Springfield [OH], and Ruth L., wife of Roy McClain, route one, Upper Sandusky. A sister, Miss Nettie Grundtisch, is deceased.

Mrs. Althouse was a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ near here [Upper Sandusky, OH], the Women's Guild of the church, Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 366, and was Past Matron of the chapter and served as secretary for 16 years.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday from the Bringman and Co. Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Miller, pastor of Emanuel United Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will be made in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Monday [10 JUN 1963] from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Home for the Aged of the Evangelical and Reformed Church.
