Rites For Well-Known Local Woman To Be Conducted Saturday [30 JUL 1949]

Mrs. Flora C. Cress, 72, of 227 West Wyandot avenue [Upper Sandusky, OH], died at 11:55 o'clock Wednesday [27 JUL 1949] night of complications. She had been ill since Tuesday [26 JUL 1949] evening.

Born in Crane township, Wyandot county [OH], September 11, 1876, the deceased was the daughter of Frank and Mary (Kleopfer) (sic) Grundtisch.

She was married to Emery Schindler, who died in 1909. She later married C.M. Cress April 5, 1912, in this city [Upper Sandusky, OH]. The late Rev. B.E. Leinkamper performed the ceremony.

Surviving are one son, Earl Schindler, of Urbana [OH], and a stepson, Mervin Cress, of Detroit, Mich.

Also surviving are one granddaughter, Mrs. Harold Amstoker, of Columbus [OH], and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Emma Irvin, of Upper Sandusky; Mrs. J.K. Schindler, of Coshocton [OH]; Mrs. G.O. Heath, of Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Clara Stalter, Mrs. Estella Newell and Ed Grundtisch , all of this city, and Edwin Grundtisch, or east of this city.

Two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Shivley and Mrs. Louise Robey and one step-brother, Fred Yeager, are deceased.

Mrs. Cress was a member of Trinity Evangelical and Reformed church and a very active member in church affairs. She had lived her entire life in this community.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2:30 p.m. from Trinity Evangelical and Reformed church with the pastor, Rev. Paul E. Rohrbaugh, officiating. Burial will be made in Old Mission cemetery.

The body is at the Bringman & Co. funeral home where friends may call after 7:30 o'clock this Thursday [28 JUL 1949] evening until 12:30 Saturday at which time the remains will be taken to the church to lie in state until the hour of services.
