Ruth Evelyn Matteson, of Upper Sandusky, died at 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013
at Fairhaven Community, Upper Sandusky. She was 104.
Born May 19, 1908 in Eden Township, Wyandot County, she was a daughter of the late Foster B. and Blanche (Moser) Cole. She married Otto M. Matteson on May 30, 1933
in Nevada and he died March 4, 1987.
Mrs. Matteson is survived by two sons, Thomas T. (Dottie) Matteson, Melbourne, Fla.; and Stephen C. (Carol) Matteson, Kenton; seven grandchildren; and 13
great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a twin brother, Russell Cole; and a sister, Lucille Niebel.
Mrs. Matteson attended Bowling Green State University and taught elementary school for 29 years at Eden and East schools in Upper Sandusky. She retired in 1965.
Mrs. Matteson was a member of John Stewart United Methodist Church, Upper Sandusky.
She was a member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association, Marta Moody Grace Davis Circle, Order of Eastern Star No. 336 and the Wyandot Memorial Hospital Guild.
The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Bringman-Clark Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky, with the Rev. Wayne Geissinger officiating. Burial will follow at Old Mission Cemetery, Upper Sandusky. Visitation will be held at 4-6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
