Funeral services for Lucille Myrtle Niebel, 92, rural Sycamore, are scheduled
for Thursday, July 7, at 11 a.m. at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, with
the Rev. Diane Thomas officiating. Burial was scheduled to be held at Pleasant
Ridge Cemetery, Sycamore. Visitation was scheduled for Wednesday, July 6, from
2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
Mrs. Niebel died at 1:40 a.m. Saturday, July 2, 2005, at Fairhaven
Community, Upper Sandusky.
She was born Jan. 10, 1913, in Upper Sandusky, to Foster B. and Blanche
(Moser) Cole. She married William M. Niebel on May 22, 1937, in McConnelsville,
and he died in February 2001.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Doyle (Judy) Smith, Shelbyville, Mich.,
and Mrs. Edwin (Karen) Goodman, Cuero, Texas; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren;
and a sister, Ruth Matteson, Upper Sandusky.
Preceding her in death was a brother, Russell B. Cole.
Mrs. Niebel was a 1929 graduate of Eden High School and a 1933 graduate
of Bowling Green State University. She had taught school at Eden, Sycamore and
Mohawk, retiring in 1973.
She was a member of Sycamore United Church of Christ and its Alpha Omega
Sunday school class.
She was a member of Mohawk Historical Society, Mohawk 60+ Club, Women's
Literacy Club, Delta Kappa Gamma, a teacher's honorary society; PEO Sisterhood,
Wyandot County Retired Teachers of the Ohio Education Association, a member of
the first class inducted into the hall of fame at Mohawk High School, and a
former member of Warpole Chapter #366, OES, Upper Sandusky.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mohawk Community Library or Sycamore
United Church of Christ.
