Known as: Tena

Died, on Monday, Aug. 31 [1896], at nine o'clock p.m., Albertena (sic) Blaser, aged 22 years and 4 months. Funeral services Thursday [03 SEP 1896], at 10 o'clock a.m., conducted by Rev. Barnhart, at the Salem church, near her home; interment in Salem cemetery. How truly has it been said "Death loves a shining mark!" This time it has plucked from the garden of youth that, which seemed to us, as her companions and friends, the gayest and liveliest flower of all. Dear Tena, the loving daughter, the affectionate sister and faithful friend of all who knew her--but a few short days since, she was with us! How greatly will we miss her when we shall have again gathered together. Yet, when we think of the absent face, of the gentle spirit that in the morning of life, so suddenly passed away, we know "He doeth all things well," and we are better because she was with us as long as she was. She has gone away in all her innocence and purity, gone from pain, sorrow, and trouble of any kind. We can never forget her and her short life, like the voices of a singing bird will dwell forever in our hearts. We sincerely sympathize with the afflicted family in their deep sorrow and bereavement, and now, as we take up life's work again, let us strive to live more for Christ and the home where we believe Tena now is, and as in the pleasures of life, she still beckons us to come, and "Enter into the joy of the Lord."

   We did not know that she
     So soon would float away,
   Of that to winter's chilling blight,
     Would change this summer day.
   But like some stars in glory set,
     She was too fair for earth;
   A lovely bird of promise rare,
     An angel from her birth.
                                             A FRIEND.
