WILLIAM J. BLASER DIES WEDNESDAY [15 MAR 1944]

Respected Resident Summoned At Home Near Upper Sandusky [OH]

William J. Blaser, 78, lifelong resident of Wyandot county [OH], passed away at his home three miles east of Upper Sandusky, Wednesday morning at 2:30. He had been in failing health for some time and was bedfast since early in January [1944]. He had been totally blind for about three years.

William Jonathan (sic) Blaser was born on the farm where his death occurred December 15, 1865, the son of the late Rev. Godfrey and Rosina (Kuenzli) Blaser. He is survived by his wife, the former Pearl Swan, five children, Wayne C. Blaser of Cincinnati [OH]; Ruth, wife of Paul L. Castanien of Marion [OH]; Homer S. Blaser in New York state; Robert Blaser of Springfield [OH], and Helen, wife of Charles O'Connor of Columbus [OH]. Also 14 grandchildren. One granddaughter is deceased. He also leaves a brother, Benjamin Blaser of Cleveland [OH], and two sisters, Mrs. Ida Swan of east of town [Upper Sandusky, OH] and Mrs. Theresa Flowers of Galion [OH]. A number of brothers and sisters are deceased.

Mr. Blaser was a retired farmer. He was a member of Salem Evangelical church, and was very highly respected in the community. He leaves many friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday [17 MAR 1944] afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Bringman & Co. funeral home and at 2:30 at Salem Evangelical church east of Upper Sandusky with Rev. Charles Holzwarth officiating and with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 o'clock Thursday [16 MAR 1944] evening.
