Rev. J.H. Blaser, born in Ohio, February 22, 1857, and died in Pearl City [Stephenson Co, IL], March 22, 1923. He was converted in his youth, felt the call to the Gospel ministry and entered Northwestern College in preparation therefor. He was licensed to preach by the Ohio Conference in 1883; in 1889 moved to Texas, in 1891 came to Illinois, giving thirty-nine years to the Gospel ministry. He gave himself with true devotion to the Lord's work, leading many souls to Christ and ministering to God's people. His memory is blessed because of his upright and loyal spirit of brotherly love.

REV. J.H. BLASER PASSES AWAY

Rev. J.H. Blaser, 66 years old, and for the past year or so, pastor of the Sabins Evangelical Church of near Pearl City [Stephenson Co, IL], passed away very unexpectedly, last Thursday [22 MAR 1923] morning.

Rev. Blaser was a splendid man, large hearted and gracious. His outstanding christian (sic) life will long be remembered by the members of his parish and outside friends.

The deceased is survived by his widow, daughter and son.

Funeral sevices (sic) were held at the Sabin church Friday [23 MAR 1923] afternoon at 2 o'clock conducted by Rev. U.F. Klingbeil, presiding elder of this district. The remains were then taken to Freeport [Stephenson Co, IL] and thence to Streator [LaSalle Co], Ill. the old home, were (sic) interment was made in the Long Point cemetery [Livingston Co, IL]. Funeral services were held at Streator on Sunday [25 MAR 1923].
